Six year old does one tempis (six year old rider that is!)

This was posted on the Chronicle of the Horse bulletin board. I'm impressed with the kid but what a great horse!

  2. Do you really think the kid had anything to do with it or it's just a party trick? She seemed to have a lot of trouble getting him to stop trotting...She sticks like a burr, but I wondered if he just doesn't know to do it whenever he crosses the school...or maybe I'm just really jealous. ;)

  3. I believe (pretty sure) this kid is a member of the Klimke family (Dr. Reiner Klimke is her Grandad) Horse is Grand Prix trained. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Heading should read "Born to ride". Right or wrong she is fantastic, as is the horse!

  4. Well, bless the horse, because the little girl is not really a super effective rider. Not to be catty, but I'm pretty sure "pushbutton" suits this situation perfectly.

Fun to watch, but when they are going down the long side, the child nearly loses her seat. I'd love to see a more stable lower leg there, but she is too tiny to fit those little legs around that big angel of a horse.

  6. I believe that she is the daughter of a well known German rider, unfortunately I cant remember which one !

  7. That horse is very saintly. I'm pretty sure mine wouldn't be so accommodating! :)

Although... I hate to be a party-pooper but if I had a 6yo I'm not sure I'd want them to try that anyway. Glad to see she has a helmet on though.

  8. I'm impressed that this tiny girl can stay on, much less approximate the cues for flying changes (you see her little leg go back and forth). But the horse must be a machine!

  9. Ingrid Klimke's daughter. I'm pretty sure if your last name is Klimke, you are born with a superstar riding future ;)

  10. That horse is a saint. I'm pretty sure that this is an example of a horse having done an exercise a million times and just does his job right with anyone without a fuss. I give the little girl props for sure, but her upper body is all over the place at times, which makes me lean towards the horses side. :)

But what a cool thing to see, more little kids should have the opportunity ride really well trained horses so they know what it should feel like.

  11. I will say this- the horse is very talented, but so is the little girl. To be so light and be able to sit that horse in and of itself is amazing- have you guys ever watched the average 6 year old ride? They don't weigh enough to keep from flopping up and down- so yes, the horse is an old master, but the little girl is very talented. I can't even imagine.

As far as just doing it without any help, I don't believe that the horse would be doing 1 tempis with no cue- regardless of how well trained it is. I have seen well oiled machines of horses flub because of rider error- no matter how polished they were in a western riding pattern (which would be easy to "train" the horse to change right in between the cones. So I believe that this is a combo of great horse, great little rider.

Oh, I totally agree with the fact that it helps to ride a really well trained horse- you can actually feel what things are supposed to feel like and it makes it much easier to get something.

  12. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!
I apparently SUCK as a rider. That kid has 10 years on me and 10x the tempis!
