Poor Riley and his lame leg, and the relentless wrapping with duct tape and vetwrap, have been getting me down lately. The vet is coming tomorrow (it's Thursday pm now). I don't need another vet bill. I'm afraid of what the x-rays will show. And I have not seen my boy Harvey. So with pet worries, unexpected expenses, and Harv withdrawal, what can one do?
BUY SHOES OF COURSE! Yes, it's foolish, but at least these are on on Ebay, slightly used. I resisted temptation for days, because I usually wear an 8.5 and these are a 9. The seller swore they run small, but I stayed strong. Then I perused the Icon shoe manufacturer site and found the description of the shoes. The ad copy actually said, these shoes run small, order a 1/2 size smaller. It was a sign from God.
I came, I saw, I bought it now!

Depression confession: Another pair of shoes...
I you want to see multiple views, click here. Recognize the artwork? It's a George Stubbs painting -- the Icon shoe co. reproduces famous artwork on its shoes. Being a fairly plain dresser, I think I can pull off a slightly over the top shoe. Let's hope.

Hope the vet finds a solution - that isn't too expensive and doesn't involve lots of hand walking, wrapping and stall rest. I'm coping with a swollen hind leg today - not lame but hot and sore to the touch - I'm thinking dermatitis but a call to the vet tomorrow may be in order. If it's not one thing, it's another! Nice shoes.
ReplyDeleteMy horse is also lame - has been for the last month. Vet is also coming out tomorrow for another look and decisions on spending further $$$. I am almost ashamed to say that I bought an iphone to compensate. I don't really need an internet connection in my pocket but for the first time I am not viewing the impending vet visit with dread because I get to pick up my new iphone directly after the vet visit :)
ReplyDeleteYou should wear your new shoes tomorrow. Best of luck to you and I hope your boy gets better ASAP.
Good wishes for your horse...but gotta' say, those shoes are just wonderful!! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteShopping is a wonderful balm. Maybe you need to take Riley shopping.
ReplyDelete:)
Cool shoes!
I think you and I were having a cosmic connection yesterday; it was a stupid day at work which was completely turned around by the arrival of a new pair of shoes I have been salivating over since January and finally found at a decent price. C'mon, it's artwork for the foot and if you can't get some horse therapy shoes can be a pretty good substitute!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I want those shoes! I love Stubbs.
ReplyDeleteThose are some awesome shoes! I can see why you couldn't pass them up. I'm not sure I can either. Now I have to go look at the price and see if I can get some :) Those rock!
ReplyDeletePrayers for your horse, hope he gets better soon.
Horse recovering from an absess (we now have her walking around in a Davis Boot) AND a dog with health issues....so I feel your pain. Hope you get some good news. It is so stressful when our furbabies are not doing well, and we feel so helpless as to what to do!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Riley. I know all too well how frustrating lingering lameness can be. Hope the vet finds the best answer possible.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes. Seem to me they need a special place to go too...how about out to dinner?
Those shoes Rock! They remind me of the needlepoint ones that Amy Jo Gladstone used to make. I have a pair of those I got off Ebay with little Shih Tzu dogs on them. I would absolutely wear those!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them and I hope Riley is 100%again very soon!
