Light up the show ring, ladies!

You know how a lot of kids tennis shoes have LEDs (light emitting diodes) embedded in the heel or toe or wherever? Well, now you can get the same light-up feature in equine footwear.

I have to say I absolutely love this idea -- for kids, and for schooling. But... come to think of it... Maybe it has a place in equestrian sport. Could you see something in the dressage ring? Maybe a dressage pad or button braid bands with subtle, lustrous shimmering lights pulsing with the music?
No? Oh well, it was just a thought...

  1. Uh... I looked at this and my first thought was, "no concidence that the company is called Bar-F (barf)..."

Kids and schooling? Yes. Just don't take them off your farm.

  3. Perfect for hacking out on gloomy days if traffic is near! Or you want to scare away the mountain lion. :)
And that is the best comment ever!

  4. Lov'em! Might be great for night riding. (Hollyn's comment aside. *LOL*)

Did you hear the one about the kid who committed some kind of crime one night and then ran from the police? The police had no trouble following him and capturing him. Yep, he was wearing the light up sneakers. (This is supposed to be a true story!)

  5. I knew a girl who had these boots and used to run barrels with them...it was SO COOL to watch her ride in the dark!

Not sure if I would ever actually pay money for a pair...but it was a super popular idea with kids at our county fair!

  8. OMG - you have to be kidding me! Still...my friend V rides volunteer mounted patrol. She has flashing blue lights that attach to her breastplate for when she has to "pull" someone over! So, maybe there is something useful about these...

  9. I would never do this to my horse...Hollyn - very good observation about the BARF company name...haha

  10. Wow, spectacular and not in a good way. Still, I guess I'll leave them for people who want that much attention in the ring. I, on the other hand, am quite happy to appear as unobtrusive as possible.

Would be perfect for endurance if the ride starts at night. Or also training in the eavning. Or trail riding in foggy days.
