Riley lost a shoe in the mud Thursday -- now replaced -- but he is on "indoor turnout" until further notice. Indoor turnout is a stopgap that leaves him with plenty of energy. After a careening lungeing session that drove 3 horses out of the ring on Friday, here he is lunged on .7 cc of acepromazine.

Harv just standin' there, Riley on the lunge line (video)
The title says it all. Harv had a nice birthday with petit fours and red velvet cream cheese brownies (for humans only). He is just a tad lame on the left front and has been for over a week, but he is comfortable and happy-seeming. If he isn't right by spring shots next week, I've have the vet take a look.

Harv looks marv! What a great birthday boy he is.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see Riley sound and back at work. My Tucker was on limited outdoor arena turnout because he loses shoes in the mud. He and Riley would make a good pair with two shoes between them! *sigh*
Both your boys are looking great! It is great to see Riley out and about again. Who is that for the background music? I like the song
ReplyDeleteHes looking fabulous! what a nice big stride he has.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I loved when Riley looked at the camera and said "I'm 16.3 now!" It really did look like that was what he was saying! I loved the music too - great song.
ReplyDeleteMusic: Pillowfighter singing "Open heart surgery"
ReplyDeleteThe birthday treats sound great.
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate when horses loose shoes. Messes everything up.

ReplyDeleteRiley is gonna look so handsome when he gets all fit and muscley!
Been there, done that with lost shoes MANY times. Good to know he's all sorted out now :)
Beautiful horses! I love how Riley was stretching his neck and back on line. He has a lovely stride.
ReplyDeleteNo shoes to lose here! This is very nice when others are worrying about snow pads, toe clips, and the like.
wow Riley is a stunning mover! even when he is a little weak
