Isabel Werth and Ludger Beerbaum trade horses as part of a "half-time" show at Aachen. I'm totally impressed with how readily these folks adapt to the new discipline. Do you think they "cheated" and traded their mounts in advance (I probably would have, but only out of a survival motive)?

That was so fun! Thanks for posting that. I loved how Isabel jumps Ludgers horse over the dressage court! Priceless. I suspect they didnt rehearse beforehand. Being such high level trainers I am sure they could get on pretty much anyone's reasonably trained/broke horse and look pretty much amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Like Nicku, I loved Isabell juming the dressage arena. It looked like both had fun.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think that this just goes to show how much the Germans value their dressage. While I have been exposed to many Grand Prix jumpers, riding them or otherwise, and having competed in the upper levels (1.30m+) myself, I know that an American jumper can't just go out and do two-time tempis. I feel that is something to aspire to, though!
ReplyDeleteCheated? Rehearsed? Why bother. Both people and horses are too highly trained to worry about that. That was just hacking around.
ReplyDeleteNah, no cheating beforehand. A good rider can adapt to almost any discipline, especially on a well-trained horse. Wish there had been a few more jumps for her to try out. *G*
ReplyDeleteI bet Isabelle really enjoyed going wee-eee! with the speed of his show jumper, and Ludger enjoyed the passage and carriage of the dressage horse. Yes, no surprise that Germans are multi-talented.
