He does try to jump the mounting block :-) and he hugs the wall so much he stumbles -- but aside from that the video is routine stuff. He's come a loooong way since his hoof surgery last fall. He got many pats and hugs. Youtube video is below, here's the vimeo video for those who can't view youtube.
Oh, and I rode Harv Saturday. He's back in the game :-)! What a great summer this will be....
He definitely has some awfully nice natural self-carriage!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on things going well in the horse health world for you!
Why would you ride him on a lunge line? Is he that green? When do you ride outdoors?
ReplyDeleteHe is sooooo talllll! And what a good boy. When will you be riding him?
ReplyDeletePanavia999, he is really green. Ridden 5 times last May, then sidelined with an injury for almost a year. This is probably his 3rd ride?
ReplyDeleteRiley looks great! A little "greenie silly" now and then....gee, let's spook at the door, then the sunshine, then the window...well, not really spook, just look and forget where our feet are. *lol* He is really working into a nice frame already.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how he is springing off those two SOUND front feet of his!! And an additional cheer for Harv. You are indeed set for the summer!
Ah, he is very green! Well, I hope he can go hacking a bit outdoors soon. I feel sorry for horses who are stuck working indoors all the time.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! He must be so happy to have a job to do again!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! He looks GREAT! I'm so happy for you that he's sound and in work now. And you never know....maybe one day Riley will decide he likes jumping fences instead of mounting blocks!
ReplyDeleteHe is precious. LOL I love the mounting block jump!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteHe looks amazing! You guys are going to have so much fun! I am so glad both of your boys are healthy!
ReplyDeleteAww look how nimble he is over the mounting block! This is great!
ReplyDeleteHow long and how often are his sessions right now? I'm curious. Never had a baby. Mine was 4 when I got him and already green broke. We only did 20mins about 4 days a week under saddle at the start. (With daily fussing and treats of course!) Perhaps I'm overly cautious?
Cute. And for so young - remarkably well tempered!!!
ReplyDeleteBut it looks like your trainer is having to pedal awful hard - is he normally that pokey and needing pushing so much?
beautiful boy! I love his self carriage! good luck
ReplyDeleteBay horse, he is lunged maybe 5-10 minutes and ridden about 10 minute right now -- but it's kind of intense as the trainer is establishing "Forward."
ReplyDeleteYes, Baxter'smum, he is a pokey boy. I think the weight (little as it is) makes him insecure.
