I am guessing many of you have seen this but I thought it was charming -- what a refreshing change from all of those goofy "half time" programs featuring overdressed women on baroque horses...

Wow... that got my heart pumping! I definitely wouldn't mind seeing that performance live.... Or finding out if they are single :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I wonder if we could convince them to come perform at our MN Horse Expo! this would be better than some trick cowboy.
ReplyDeleteI've seen videos of these guys before and can't really find much information about them. Their jumping ability is truly amazing. I can recall years ago when a ballet dancer performed a pas de deux with a horse and one of the big obstacles he had to overcome was the depth of the footing which made it twice as hard to jump. These guys make it look easy!
ReplyDeleteMen doing open jumping and men doing dressage
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I hadn't seen it yet so thanks for sharing! They are so talented!
ReplyDeleteHunky Guy puissance! And a well deserved victory lap at the end. Very impressive. When I saw them 'cantering' toward the jumps it reminded me of when I was a little kid and I'd set up saw horses, barrels and assorted obstacles and canter around playing show jumper. Also when I was 4, the rusty back springs of the rocking horse broke - it was stuck in "rear" so I put a steel bowl on my head and played showjumper.
ReplyDeleteI followed the link provided by Kaede and also noticed the hysterical panto dressage. So cute!

And they are having such a good time, you can't help but love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely amazing! They make it look so easy!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I like how they jump better with less clothes, lol!
ReplyDeleteThat SO brought me back to my childhood!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, every time we had a barn party all of us kids would head to the arena and jump the course. One person would get to be the instructor (or the judge, if we were pretending to be at a show)and the rest would be rider/pony combos.
Sometimes we would pretend that our pony was bad, like refusing or bucking, so we would carry a crop, yell/growl at ourselves, etc. We would canter and count our strides, and do flying changes over the fences. It was so much FUN!!
(We never jumped nearly as high as those guys -- although, when I had to do track in high school gym class, my friend and I always cantered the fences, even the high jump -- I did that one 3'6" once!!)
Frizzle, that's a cute anecdote. I was watching "Birmingham's wackiest Christmas event", the Panto Grand National, fueled by beer not oats, and a couple of the riders really get into it with the crop and the "fractious horse" bit.
ReplyDeleteJust google or youtube for birmingham panto grand national
Too funny! Hmmm. Might want to get back into hunter-jumpers!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a blast! The Euros are not timid about a little beefcake, Yankees are still so Victorian about the male bod. I can't believe how those guys can jump! Amazing, really. Glad you shared. Yes, beats dress-ups any day.
