Have y'all been following the Dressage Today and Horsetech
Centerline competition? I was so pleased to see efforts/encouragement in the direction of more innovative rider apparel. And the finalists have been selected! My favorite of all of them is the hardhat pictured right, in the hardhat category. It's adorable, safety conscious, and lots of high tech embedded, like:
- Bluetooth for trainer/rider communications
- GPS if a rider falls in a remote location
- Ipod/iTunes integration
It's environmentally conscious, it has retractable sunglasses, and it has bling.
As to the other categories and concepts? What do you guys think????
My farrier just told me of a local rider who takes lessons from a trainer in California by setting up a digital computer camera, riding, and getting feedback through, I think, her cell phone. This helmet looks as if it might adapt well to that kind of scenario.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I get one?! :-D
ReplyDeleteI would TOTALLY buy one of those. When/where/how can I get one? (hopefully they're reasonably priced) I can't wait till they come out.
ReplyDeletePretty cool; I love the idea of having music "in your head" (or I would if I actually had an iPod ;o)
ReplyDeletelove the built in sunglasses, but not sure about the music. I can at least predict some spooks if i can hear them coming. I can see myself merrily humming along and then suddenly being left on the ground while Neddie heads off into the sunset. Maybe not too bad if it was the theme to Black Beauty...otherwise, not so good!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - its me who designed the helmet! My friend mentioned to me you had blogged about it! I am so glad you like it and thanks to the people who posted such nice comments too! I tried to think about everything I would like to make my ride safer (I often school alone at home and am terrified I will fall off and not be able to call for help and not be found) as well as trying to make the helmet as functional and stylish as possible! Mikey and Anonymous I don't think they are actually going to make it :-( though Charles Owen do have the rights to my design as part of the rules of entering the design contest so theoretically they could make it (or any parts of it) if they wanted to! It was definitely fun designing my "dream helmet"!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Fay! I think your idea is fun and practical, so I hope it gets developed.
ReplyDeleteThe best endorsement I can think of: I'd buy this helmet in a heart beat. Especially if it's as comfortable as a Charles Owen. Fantastic design.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Fay!
Haha, love the sunglasses on this hat! I am following you now :-)
