I mean, wow! I don't know, there are so many cool things to highlight in a horse-rider dressage performance. Not sure those stirrups could share the stage with any more bling, and if you are going to have one bling item, would it be a stirrup???

If I was going to bling up one thing, it would be a browband - but sadly side saddle frowns on any kind of bling at all - even stud earings!
ReplyDeleteNot sure all that would show up from far away! Plus, I would not want to put my boots that were just standing in arena dirt into those! They are quite fabulous, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of that stirrup bling, but I LOVE the top left stirrup at this link:

I wouldn't mind that for my dressage saddle!
I want to see a poll on how many people using those irons have an unsteady leg. This is like painting a target on your back.
ReplyDeleteI think things are going to an extreme with dressage, for good or ill. It's always been such a formal, staid and conservative sport, but now that it seems to be gaining popularity with riders bling is coming into its own.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind it, if it's attractive, but if the goal is to make one horse and rider stand out from another based on bling rather than performance then????????? Perhaps he musical freestyles should be done in costume?
Maybe we could add a score for coordinating bling aspects on tack and rider?
In answer, I think the stirrups would be one of the last places I'd add the sparkle.
I have issues with my feet/leg - no need to call more attention to them! If I blinged something it would be brow band or my horses braids.
ReplyDeleteBut then again my Dressage saddle pad has the pink cancer ribbon embroidered on both rear corners. That's enough bling in my opinion.
That's just plain ugly. As for bling in general, what is wrong with plain leather and steel?
ReplyDeleteI love my "blingy" browband. Those stirrups are a little... intense lol!
ReplyDeleteEek! Eldest uses my old stirrups from the 70s. No bling involved but that reminds me: need to get her new stirrup pads since the old rubber has finally cracked!
ReplyDeleteI'd be afraid that these blingy stirrups would get dirt in between the stones and I'd never be able to get it out. I LOVE the stirrups in the link that Lisa posted!
