As much as I love Hennycam, I always missed seeing the other perspective -- that of the spectator. Take a look at the new split-screen that gives both views! Henny is a cross-country machine -- the confidence he has in himself and his rider are evident here--there is never hesitation, never a bauble. He is beautiful isn't he? I get teary when I watch stuff like this...

Wow how great is this! Kudos to the rider, but you're right Henny makes this look like SO easy, relaxed and balenced!
ReplyDeleteI can tell you as a former Henny rider, getting Henny to jump like this is not easy. Peter has done an amazing job with a horse that I (and several other people) thought was poorly suited for jumping. Both of them are incredibly talented and make quite the dream.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely stunning horse! The rider is equally as amazing keeping positioning over the jumps and everything. I like the jump off at the end while the horse is still running ha ha ha...
ReplyDeleteOhhhh that skinny coffin combination is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI just adore the whole Henny story, no matter what perspective it's told from.
ReplyDeleteNothing like seeing a talented eventer negotiate a course like that. See it in person and it takes your breath away. Power and courage. Amazing. (And it does bring tears....)
Oh my gosh, the ease and athleticism with which they take fences 20 and 21 (A-C) just amazes me. Gorgeous ride-thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the spectator view. I really don't get the whole excitement behind the helmet cam, I hate it! Maybe it works as a training tool for the rider but watching someone else's ride from atop their head does nothing for me.
ReplyDeleteBiz,
ReplyDeleteHow has this never come up before? Dish, Dish! What's your Henny connection?!
Isn't it funny, as I had been watching this and another videos I was thinking he might be an uncomplicated ride. It just looks so easy...
I rode Henny for about 6 months when he was owned by LM, and her niece still wanted to use him as an H/J horse. I was riding him to solidify some of his flatwork, but did attempt jumping him on a few occasions. On the flat, he was willing, but what I'd consider a complicated ride (my favorite kind). Jumping, he was also willing, but got so nervous that he could be unpredictable and flat out explosive. After two attempts, I decided that his issues jumping were beyond my ability and focussed on his flatwork. Then I moved to the east coast for grad school.
ReplyDeleteI am actually going visit Peter and Henny at the end of this month. I've never met Peter in person, but contacted him during the ownership dispute to give him my support.
Whoops. meant to say I moved to the west coast (from the east coast).
