Reckless: No more chestnut mare jokes

I stopped the chestnut mare jokes the instant I rescued my chestnut pony mare. She has THREE strikes against her: 1) Chestnut, 2) Pony and 3) Mare.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, she's the MOST willing, sensible, trainable, intelligent, quiet LOVEBUG I've ever had the pleasure to ride. I got her for a song, and bonus is she is 14hh so, being short, I don't need a parachute to dismount. :)
Come to think of it, this video reminds me of my little, redheaded girl.
Ah, yes. I have heard her story before. You're right...no more chestnut mare jokes.
ReplyDeleteI love the part that she was billeted and cared for instead of receiving a pension. She was truly a national treasure.
That is WONDERFUL! I'm sorry to say I'd never heard of the little gal. Thanks so much for the info!
ReplyDeleteI love the footage of her with her bandages up ears. Cutest patient ever.
ReplyDeleteThis came across a discussion group I belong to right after War Horse was released. She was an amazing mare indeed.
ReplyDeleteWe don't tell Chestnut jokes around here though; it would annoy Champ ;o)
That's amazing. I can hardly imagine half of the men surviving very long during this conflict, but a horse? Reckless, I salute you.
