Creamy glob, meet "the quick spritz"
I have no gripe with One Step, except maybe that I tend to use too much and it is hard to spread evenly. Imagine One Step creme in an easy to apply spray -- instead of a glob of creme, there's an even light spray. Guess what, it is a real product, pictured right. How do I use One Step spray?
- I keep a moist sponge in a baggie next to my One Step spray bottle in my tack trunk.
- After every other ride or so, I just spritz a little bit on before wiping down my tack.
- I run water through the sponge and squeeze it out, then back it goes into the baggie.
- Next ride I may just wipe down with the sponge.
Hey, do you want to try it?
It's easy -- I have five to give away, thanks to Absorbine! To win one, respond in a comment or Facebook post with your best, and your most unlikely excuse for not cleaning tack. Here's my answer to the question, "Why don't you clean your tack after every ride?"
"I'd stay at the barn to clean tack, but I'm worried about leaving the cats home alone."
Okay, now tell me yours!!! Make sure to include a means of contacting you if you win...
I'd clean my tack, but my friend told me that judges like dirty leather.
ReplyDeleteI'd clean my tack after every ride except I'm afraid that my tack, like my furry children, will get spoiled and develop a sense of entitlement.

I'd clean my tack, except we were hit by a freak wind occurence with vertical columns of wind at hurricane strength and the barn fell on my cleaning supplies. My saddle and bridle happened to be at the trainer's at the time so they're ok.
ReplyDelete(No, REALLY. The collapsed wall is the tack room, and the shelves you see are where the tack cleaner is. http://www.flickr.com/photos/netg15/7790422716/in/set-72157631085379582/
A closer look of the backup saddle which was unreachable due to the downed walls around it. The spare helmet also bit the dust, because I assume concussion of having a wall land on a helmet also means it needs replacing and it's under the walls: http://www.flickr.com/photos/netg15/7790417176/in/set-72157631085379582/)
I'd like to stay at the barn and clean my tack but I have all of these darn blogs to follow that I just don't have time!
ReplyDeleteI'd clean my tack but ... these days my hand and fingers are so frozen after riding that I fear they may break off if I tried to handle any more buckles. :) ... Ok ... the real excuse if that I'd rather go home and get warm!!
ReplyDeleteI work too much :( I barely have enough time as it is to see my spotty boy, so I always choose fussing over him vs. fussing over my leather. However, when I get the bug to clean, I bust out the latex gloves and my toothbrush and get crazy ;)
ReplyDeleteI am pretty good about cleaning my tack in the summer, but lately by the time I am done with barn chores and riding I am 100% Katesicle, and my hands just cannot function well enough to clean anything. I actually brought my saddle and bridle home last night to clean them in the comfort of my living room, next to the wood stove!
ReplyDeleteI'd stay at the barn and clean my tack, but the bottle says ..use sparingly.

Haven't riden in a while and mine sure needs cleaning. This sounds like the perfect solution!
ReplyDeleteOoops.....! bubette82 at comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI made a New Years resolution that I have to clean my house before I'm allowed to clean my tack. My tack my never get cleaned again.
ReplyDeleteI'd clean mine but, none are leather!!! So now that I've finally gotten the cash to order (shipping March 1) a good saddle. I'll be needing something good to keep it clean & have no excuses!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd stay at the barn to clean all my tack but the high was -17c today and that's warm compared to some days the other week. Brrrr!

I'd clean my tack after every ride if I only wanted to ride half as often, but this busy homeschooling mom would rather ride than clean (anything)!
ReplyDelete(How come I've never heard of One Step before???)
I'd clean my tack in the winter, but every time I take it home and sit down to start one of my horses decides to hurt himself or have a medical emergency and I end up spending the entire night at the barn.
ReplyDeletehannahreeley@gmail.com
I'd clean my tack, but I took it home to clean it yesterday, didn't do it, forgot, and now am at the barn with no tack to ride in, let alone clean.
ReplyDeleteThis has happened to me more often than I'd like to admit.

I don't clean my tack after every ride because my butt's just going to be back in it the next day anyway!
ReplyDeleteI'd stay at the barn to clean all my tack, but I go through enough leather care supplies as it is! (I'm one of those weird people who like cleaning tack)
ReplyDeleteAlso... whatever happened with the giveaway from here?

Just wondering. :)

I'd happily stay at the barn to clean the tack, but I swear Oliver (aka Mr. Whithers) told me that he will just get it dirty again the next day and he prefers it that way.
ReplyDeleteId clean my tack after every ride but as you know here in Minne-snow-ta its 40 below 90% of the year and all my tack cleaners are frozen solid!
ReplyDeleteIf I cleaned my tack after every ride, whatever would the tack cleaning fairies do with their time?? ;-)

I'd clean my tack more often, but then they wouldn't have that awesome oduer 'd stable any more.

I'd love to stay at the barn to clean the tack-but I'm afraid my doctor is looking for me again. This is the most likely place he'll find me at.
ReplyDeleteI'm Ariel Depp on FB
I'd love to stay at the barn and clean the tack, but my doctor is looking for me. This is the most likely place I'd be at.
ReplyDeleteMy FB is Ariel Depp
I'd clean my tack but Cookie pushes me to the hay shelter to be fed & by the time I get done it's too dark to clean it!
ReplyDeleteI'd clean my tack more often if I wasn't afraid of my horses getting jealous for giving it special attention
ReplyDeleteI would like to clean my tack but I'm worried that if I clean it there won't be enough dirt on saddle to keep me in place.
ReplyDeleterace.ride.jump@gmail.com
I would clean my tack but the cold weather we keep having cold weather freezes my liquid soap!
ReplyDeleteBecause I love that sweaty, horsey smell! :)
ReplyDeleteI would clean my tack after every ride, but clean tack makes it rain! (same reason I don't wash my car, see how great that is?)
ReplyDeleteI'd clean my tack but after I ride my horse....I have to...go walk my fish....

I'd clean my tack, except my breeches are filthy anyway.
ReplyDeleteI can't clean my tack after riding because it's a fate worse than death!! I'd rather be riding- ride more, scrub less! :) <- unless we have a show or lesson, of course.

My daughter said she'd clean her tack after every ride but last time she used leather conditioner, she went to mount her pony and it was so slippery that she went right over the other side!

I'd stay at the barn to clean my tack but I don't want my house to get jealous.
ReplyDeletewhoalittlegirl@yahoo.com
I'd stay at the barn to clean my track but I ran out of leather cleaner and conditioner!!! Hint hint!!! Lol
ReplyDeletekrbarrington@gmail.com
I'd clean my tack more, but, my horse would get jealous, and he'd say i spent more time cleaning tack then riding him!!
