What old world charm and what an international treasure -- I read most of the CDK biography and his story is remarkable. Unlike many natural riders, CDK can also WRITE about riding. While I can't always make my body do what it takes to ride classically, reading his words is an inspiration. He is exacting and a perfectionist, but it is in service to the horse.
CDK comes to Hassler Dressage and many members of my GMO go every single time -- "Go see him while he is still around" they urge. He is widely regarded to be one of the most eloquent spokespersons for classical principles -- and he is also a hoot, using humor and his big personality to hold your attention. He appears to be in good health, thank goodness-- let's hope he is around for a long time to come.
I've always had respect for CdK, which is why I was horrified that he took part in a certain "dressage summit" in my area. :-/ I don't understand why he would attach his name and reputation to that particular dog-and-pony show.
