See article on this gelding -- Bluetooth. The gelding, according to the article, has "a certain something" that apparently translates into big dollars. Here is footage of him at liberty and under saddle. Does he look like a million bucks to you?

Bluetooth: 3-year-old gelding sells for 1.3 million

I have seen Vitalis, the 6 y.o. stallion recently purchased by Charlotte Jiorst. Bluetooth looks better to me under saddle than he does at liberty (I agree with the narrator). I like his trot better than his canter, but he will mature into a stunning competitor, I bet.
ReplyDeleteThis is a prime example of why people think we Equestrians are rich . . . .
ReplyDeleteHis canter made me giggle, reminded me of a gangly Great Dane puppy :P. Down the road he could definitely be something special. Lets hope he gets a little more time to mature before he is thrown into a serious show schedule!
ReplyDeleteWhat I see is an extraordinarily SUPPLE horse, which is a treasure to be sure. It could also be ruined easily by incorrect riding, but that's true of all horseflesh. He's not worth a million to ME, since I don't orbit in that galaxy, but I can see how he could be to an international competitor.
ReplyDelete3 yo? He won't last long with his poll flexed that much at that age. How tight is it when he'd not on video. Dare I say...rollkur?
ReplyDeleteHe really is a beauty and the ground cover during his trot and canter is huge!
ReplyDeleteHe is at least 3 years too young to be working like he is. Overbent and working hard when he hasn't learnt how to go.
ReplyDeleteHe looks more like a saddlebred (and moves like one) than a warmblood. I am not a huge fan of the way warmblood breeding is going today, I much prefer the hefty older types with a good amount of bone.
ReplyDeleteJust WOW, I am speechless...
ReplyDeletePoor baby, why cant he be allowed to mature before he does that level of work. He wont have a long competitive life. What is the rush?
DeleteI like this horse so much more than many of the big dollar horses out there, for how he uses his hind end. Is it too much for a youngster? Yes, probably, but he looks strong and as if this is fairly close to how he naturally will move with a rider right now - I bet the short neck is as much his own doing as the rider, even though I too dislike it. I'm just not ready to throw stones at anyone over it. He reminds me of some of the nicer TBs I've known more than a warmblood, at this point. I suspect he'll very much be my type if not rushed, and as a 3 year old gelding I would hope someone is planning on his lasting for a very long time if they paid that kind of price!
ReplyDeleteI do think it's crazy money, and can't look at that horse and in any way, shape or form justify why someone would spend so much. But I'm frugal...
I agree that he is being worked in too tight a frame for his age, and also interesting that the video was only showing him on a straightaway, not turning at all. He does look beautiful under saddle though.
ReplyDeleteHook a cart up to him!
