Someone asked me to elaborate on the Harvey moose call, the bellow, the Harvey holler. If you want to hear it, follow these instructions.
- Turn down the volume (for your protection).
- Click play.
- Imagine this noise at two minute intervals during feed time or while waiting for turnout.
- Now think about the donkey braying too (they often chimed in together).
His whinny is broken. It's funny to watch him work up to that. I wonder if there is something in his throat that makes it hard to whinny, since he puts so much effort into it.
ReplyDeleteI think he had just had treats and the lipsmacking was residual..
ReplyDeleteI have hearing loss and just asked my boyfriend to listen. He says it sounds like a combination of a horse neighing and a dog howling.
ReplyDeleteI think he's been neighbors with the donkey for too long :)
ReplyDeleteWhile I certainly agree that sound is "unique", at least he's not pawing at the door (my gelding's cringe worthy behavior) or peeing all over the place (a mare at my current barn)!!! It's certainly something you won't forget :)
ReplyDeleteHaha. He sounds like a donkey. Did he have tie back surgery? Harvey is so cute.
ReplyDeleteWell, then! That is SOME unique vocalization, alright! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my god that is hilarious! I've never heard anything like it!
