Noble Outfitter: Peddies
Have you all seen these new socks from Noble Outfitters? Have you tried Peddies? I tried a pair at our local saddlery recently, and I was hooked. They solve a problem that is unique to riders or any athletes that wear close-fitting boots.
Problem: The rub
My Petrie tall boots are pretty, but darn it, they hurt. It's like they are carved out of wood. Until recently, I used sheepskin pieces stuffed into my boot to protect my ankle.
Peddies protect!
Peddies are made to be thick around the foot up through the ankle, but thin (like boot socks) starting above the ankle. This is perfect! They have that slinky feel on the outside, and on the inside they are soft, with thick padding on the foot.
I don't know how to describe this exactly, but you can "feel" a good quality fabric/material. I has substance, the colors are saturated and vibrant, the sizing is generous. That is the Peddies.

These would be the dream socks! I often wear short athletic type socks over tall boot socks for this very reason. The other issue I often find with boot socks is they do not go up high enough. I find the taller socks help with the off and on process (yes, I have boots without zippers!)
ReplyDeleteOh, daughter needs these - she has a nasty blister on her heel from hiking in snow boots that didn't fit well and now she's off riding until it heels b/c she can't get the boots on! Thanks for this info - she has a long narrow foot that gets wider at the toe, so anything that adds some extra bulk esp. at the heel will be a good thing.

ReplyDeleteThese are great! Okay, my dream riding socks would be cushion-y on the feet but compression-y on the calf. It seems like the zocks are just thin/slippery everywhere, and the thick winter socks can be too thick on the calf for a snug pair of tall boots. Maybe this fits the bill?
ReplyDeleteOh! I saw these at the MD Horse Expo! I wear Zocks right now but they always had me wishing for more padding, sounds like these are it! My boots rub right at the back of my heel where they have dropped. You can contact me via my blog even though its on hiatus right now.
ReplyDeleteMy dream socks... in winter they are wool and warm, in summer cotton and cool, stretchy but not bulky, thin enough so that i don't notice them, thick enough to protect me from boot rub. ReplyDeleteI love these socks! I always get rubs around my ankles no matter what I wear so I opt to wear a short ankle pair and tall ones over my breeches. Right now my ideal pair would have tow warmers magically inside!

ReplyDeleteOooh I have this same problem - my boots fit great but rub my ankles. I actually "double-sock" - regular cushy socks that go a little past my ankle, then boot socks over that. In winter it's not so bad, but in summer that makes for really warm feet! These socks sound super awesome!

I have been wearing rather thick SmartWool socks to give my feet and ankles the padding; they are crew-length, so I don't have to worry about thickness in the calf area. Peddies sound like the perfect boot socks! mmcmillen AT macnet DOT com.

ReplyDeleteMy biggest problem is that my chaps fit very tightly, so I need something thin on my calves and comfy inside my boots. Exactly like these. Very cool contest! Also, I love crazy colorful socks...so that's a plus.

The socks sound wonderful and PINK!!! Always a big plus. My perfect socks wick moisture away from my foot. Are cushioned but not so thick that they make my boots fit too tight. Go through the washer and dryer with their mate and don't disappear!

The best socks wick away moisture from your foot, are thick and comfy but not so thick that they make your feet hurt in your boots and are thin enough in the calf so your boots fit well even on those swollen leg days! It is also a plus if they can go through the laundry and come out as a pair again! I hate it when one of the pair runs away to a new life!
ReplyDeleteMy perfect socks are pretty much any socks that have a fun pattern. My dad brought me home some socks with sushi on them from a trip, and I've been hooked ever since. Anything that would help with rubbing would be really nice to help break in my new english tall boots!

I have been wearing wool snowboarding socks, but my tall boots don't like to fit over them and my fat calves, so if I must wear tall boots, I'm stuck with thin socks and blistered feet. My dream pair of socks are ones that can force me to keep my heel down, keep my leg still over jumps, never get holes, make my legs look slimmer, shoot out hundred dollar bills every 5 minutes, and solve the national debt. However, I think these socks seem pretty nice too ;) My tall boots are just so uncomfortable around my ankle, I end up bleeding and with blisters if I wear them for a long time :( If I'm lucky enough to win, my email is julie.hancock117@yahoo.com
