I bought WillieBakery Muffins this summer at a local tack store, because the flavors sounded so good! Harv yummed down his soft, fragrant wildflower carrot muffins so much that I kept trying out the different flavors (I did not try them all -- yet):
- Wildflower Banana raisin
- Maple
- Wildflower Tropical
- Graham cracker
- Chocolate chip
- Cotton candy
- P-nut butter and jelly
- Wildflower Apple
- Peppermint
- Watermelon
I bought five huge bags online recently and the company was kind enough to send me a pound of muffins to use as a giveaway. This is an unsolicited, unbiases, non-compensated endorsement. They are at a reasonable pricepoint, they are soft which is important for Harvey, they smell WONDERFUL, and Harv loves them. Riley gets them occasionally but he's a cribber and any treats other than carrots can get him going.
To enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this blog with the most unusual food your horse likes. Don't worry if it's not exotic or funny, it's a random selection. Make sure to leave a way for me to contact you.
My pony loved orange soda. She would slurp it right from the can.

Not exotic at all - my mare's fav treat is apples, by far. She does like them sliced up and will watch me intently as I cut it up for her :)

My horse has lots of "strange" favorites: apples, pears, watermelon, grapes, bananas, cheez its, goldfish crackers, pita chips, oatmeal cream pies, glazed donuts, any packaged horse treats, and ice cubes. He probably has more but hasn't gotten to try them yet! ;)
ReplyDeleteMine ate a piece of cheese once and looked absolutely delighted. Totally weird!

My mare loves blueberry muffins, and will go crazy for them. :)

Lance is mouthy; he'll try ANYthing once. Haven't found a fruit he doesn't like yet. mmcmillen AT macnet DOT com
ReplyDeleteMy horse likes anything I happen to be eating. Apples, carrots, PB&J sandwich, granola bars, candy, chips and just about anything else. Although, he really doesn't like french fries. Strange horse.

I apologize if this is a duplicate. Most of the time my comments don't seem to go through on blogs.
ReplyDeleteMy boy is shockingly picky for a Haflinger. His favorite is probably peppermints, though he gets apples or carrots much more often.
Thank you for the opportunity to win!
Those flavours sound fantastic! I found out this weekend the big guy likes Goldfish Crackers!

Carrots and sometimes apples. The mare is picky. I tried sugar cubes and she spit them across the barn aisle in disgust. Most recently I tried sharing my granola bar with similar results. Would be interesting to see if my picky eater liked these are not!

My mare Shadow loves Mt Dew. We used to ride to the store, and she would wait in the parking lot for me while I bought drinks. She would drink the whole bottle!
ReplyDeleteShe is 28 now and semi-retired, but still loves Mt Dew!
It would be easier to list the foods Blessi does not like. He eats banana, apples, carrots, grapes, french fries, doughnuts, BBQ potato chips, raisons, peanuts, peppermints, granola bars, cookies, bread, cereal, ginger snaps, wedding cake, any type of berry, any type of horse treat. He does not like shortbread cookies, corn bread, or watermelon, celery without peanut butter. As you can probably guess, we have been running an experiment. I fed him broccoli one time and he waited until I bent over to pick up a brush and he spit it my hair.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun contest.

it's not unusual, but most of the horses I know really like bananas. Some even enjoy the skin.
ReplyDeleteMy FAVORITE gelding loves those little butterscotch candies wrapped in crinkly cellophane. Think the anticipation while I'm unwrapping them actually makes his mouth water :)

ReplyDeleteCarrots, carrots, carrots! I buy 3 bags per week at the grocery store, and nine times out of ten, the cashier will ask me if I'm baking a carrot cake.
ReplyDeleteOoops. My contact info is lklambert178@msn.com
ReplyDeleteI like to eat dried banana chips, and I put some in my pocket when I ride. After a ride I like to give Quest a treat, esp if I ask for some of his tricks, the first time I gave him a banana chip he ate it...and that was the last time...after that he spit it out.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I haven't found something Charlie won't eat. But yesterday he kept snooping for another treat after our ride and so I grabbed a half melted grape dum-dum lollipop that I'd cast aside from a free bag of goodies and offered it to him....go figure, he loved it!!

My thoroughbred loves graham crackers and animal crackers. I like to tease him that he's really an omnivore :) my Paint wouldn't eat anything except horse treats when we bought him but he's now been brought around to the dark side. He's still pretty basic, preferring apples and carrots.

My horse is a total hound. She will eat ANYTHING, and that includes bute powder dumped right on top of her grain, doxy pills sprinkled in without being crushed, etc. She is awesome like that, and I know I am very lucky, so that's my "unusual" thing that she eats.

I bought my horse as a yearling, and she's now just over two. It's been interesting to try to figure out what foods she likes and doesn't like. I had a pack of six cracker sandwiches the other day - cream cheese and chives - that I shared one cracker with her, and she proceeded to absolutely devour it and want more. I'm not a huge fan of that particular flavor, so I was happy to give her the rest of them!

I left a comment a few days ago, but it hasn't shown up :( My childhood pony loved to drink orange soda. She would slurp it right from the can.

Left a comment a couple of days ago..guess it didn't go through...dried banana chips...he ate the first one, but spit out the next. He is definitely not a banana lover.
ReplyDeleteLol do Gatorade bottles count? My boy doesn't actually eat them, but he loves to grab it by the top and hold it in the air for a short session of tug-of-war. But as far as actually eating, I would say Peeps. He can eat tons of those!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure my mare will eat anything. She took a Benadryl straight from my hand once, no problems. Bute, supplements, weeds, chips, you name it!
